For florists, plant shops & gifting brands
Shopify stores that deliver — especially on the busy days.
Flowers aren’t like other products. They’re fresh, they’re local, and half your year’s orders can land in one week in February. I build and fix Shopify stores so the delivery dates, cut-offs and gift messages just work — and the site stays fast when everyone wants roses at once.
What I help with
The flower-shop bits a standard theme doesn’t do
-
Delivery dates & time slots
Let customers pick a delivery day (and a time slot if you offer them), block out days you’re closed, and cap how many orders you take per slot.
-
Same-day cut-offs
A clear “order within 2h 14m for same-day delivery” message that uses your shop’s time zone — and switches to next-day automatically when the cut-off passes.
-
Local delivery zones
Deliver only where your vans actually go, with prices by postcode or distance, set up with Shopify’s local delivery and clear messaging on the product page.
-
Gift messages & add-ons
A proper card-message box, plus vases, chocolates and balloons offered at the right moment — without a clunky app slowing every page down.
-
Subscriptions
Weekly or monthly flowers for homes and offices, set up with a subscription app and styled to feel like part of your brand.
-
Peak-day readiness
Speed, stock and a code freeze before Valentine’s, Mother’s Day and Christmas — so nothing breaks the week you can least afford it.
-
Email that brings customers back
Flower buying runs on the calendar, so email is one of your best tools. I set up a sign-up form that matches your shop, connect it properly to Klaviyo, and add the essentials: a welcome email, an abandoned-basket reminder and a nudge before Valentine’s and Mother’s Day. For ongoing campaigns and strategy, I’ll point you to a specialist.
Plan ahead
Your next big days
Store changes go best when they’re finished weeks before the rush, not the night before. A few dates worth having in the diary:
- 14 Feb 2027Valentine’s Day It’s a Sunday — plan your delivery days early
- 7 Mar 2027Mother’s Day (UK) Mothering Sunday
- 9 May 2027Mother’s Day (US) If you ship to US customers
- Dec 2026Christmas Wreaths, gift boxes, office orders
Why me
A developer who thinks like a shopper
- Shopify specialist — I’ve built and extended stores for Penguin Books, Huel, Harper Wilde and plant shop Bosque Plants.
- Designer first — I started in UX design, so I care about how ordering feels on a phone, not just whether it works.
- Lean and fast — I’d rather write a small, tidy bit of code than stack up apps that slow your store down.
- London-based — happy to meet, and I know how UK delivery and Mothering Sunday work.
Questions
Florists usually ask…
Can Shopify handle delivery dates for flowers?
Yes. Shopify doesn’t include a delivery date picker out of the box, but it can be added with a delivery-date app or a custom build. On most plans the picker sits on the product or cart page, because customising checkout itself is limited outside Shopify Plus. I’ll recommend whichever fits your store and budget.
I’m on a florist-specific platform. Should I move to Shopify?
Not always. Shopify gives you more control over design, apps and marketing, but switching takes work. I’m happy to look at your current setup and tell you honestly whether moving makes sense — and what it would involve.
My store is already on Shopify. Can you just fix a few things?
Absolutely. Most of my florist work is improving an existing store: adding delivery options, tidying the product page, speeding things up before a big day. Start with the free review and I’ll suggest the quick wins.
When should I get my store ready for Valentine’s Day?
Ideally by mid-January. That leaves time to test everything and freeze changes before orders pick up in early February.
